A beef steak is something that satisfies one’s taste buds. It can be made even more delicious by cooking it using various methods. There are different ways of cooking steaks—do you know what they are?

In this blog, you will learn the different types of techniques for cooking steak and try them on specific occasions.

Different Ways of Cooking Steaks

From pan-frying to grilling, oven baking to broiling, you have sufficient options to choose from. Each produces a unique flavor. Let’s explore them.

Braising:

Braising is a unique method of cooking steak in which you pour a small amount of oil into a pan and brown the meat. Afterward, cook it in liquid with the pan covered for a specific period of time.

The braising can be carried out in the oven or on the stovetop based on your preferences. This method follows a low and slow cooking approach to turn tougher meat cuts into tender, which can be easily shredded with a fork.

Braising allows you to add flavor to it, thereby enhancing the taste of your steak.

Grilling:

Grilling is undoubtedly a simple way of cooking steak. The grill helps enhance the steak’s natural fat and juice, thereby intensifying its flavor. Dark red or cherry-colored beef is ideal for grilling. Avoid using brown meat. We recommend you use smaller cuts on the grill and larger cuts for smoking. The fat on the beef provides flavor and moisture throughout the cooking process.

Pan-Frying:

Pan-frying is one of the most popular ways of cooking steak. It is an ideal choice for those who want to enjoy the taste of butter and vegetable oil. It always gives a better taste. However, the biggest issue with pan-frying is that the pan retains more heat. In a grill, you can easily move a steak from a hotter area to a cooler area, while it is difficult with the pan-frying technique.

You have to wait for your pan to cool down. This cooking technique is best suitable for thinner meat cuts because thicker cuts take too much time to cook and are unlikely to be cooked properly.

Broiling:

This method includes using intense overhead heat for cooking the steak quickly. This technique shares an analogy with grilling, but it is performed inside the oven, providing the same charred flavor without any need for an outdoor grill setup.

The broiling method helps you achieve a caramelized crust quickly, but it requires careful monitoring to prevent excessive heat, which can lead to over-charring the steak or uneven cooking.

This method requires only a broiler pan and an oven to cook steak.

Oven Baking:

Oven baking is a quite challenging cooking technique as compared to others. However, the final outcome is delicious. This method involves combining pan searing with an oven finish. You begin by searing the steak in a pan and then transfer it to the oven for 10 to 15 minutes to complete the cooking process.

Once you remove it from the oven, allow it to rest for some time until the juices absorb into the meat completely. With this method, you can add more flavors to your steak, but it requires patience.

Tartare:

This is a very unique way of cooking steak because it is entirely raw. What sets it apart from other methods is that it is cleverly chopped before serving. Most importantly, it is made from high-quality steak.

Sous Vide:

Unlike traditional methods, Sous vide cooking method is time-consuming. So, if you want meals quickly. then it is not for you. It is perfect for thicker meat cuts. It consists of vacuum-sealing the steak and cooking it in a water bath at a carefully controlled temperature. It maintains the steak’s taste, quality, and texture without overcooking its outside layer.

The biggest problem with the sous vide method is that it requires special cooking equipment, such as a vacuum sealer and sous vide machine.
