About The Owners

Matt and Anna didn’t only set out to “launch a brand”; they came home. After a period in Oakland, California, they returned to Georgia with their son  Levon, to the land Anna’s grandfather (Woody) stewarded. His philosophy was straightforward: work with the farm’s natural rhythms. Matt and Anna are renewing that legacy, blending modern regenerative practices, careful pasture management, and full transparency from soil to stocking. Every decision they make honors that balance of heritage and forward thinking.

Our Practices

  • Rotational Grazing

Moving cattle regularly for optimal pasture health

  • No-Till Planting

Preserving soil structure and microbial life

  • Grass & Grain Options

    100% grass-fed and grass-finished option offerings

A bit of History

  • Charles "Woody" Schmoe purchased Blackwater Plantation in 1954.
  • The original rotational path for the cattle surrounded the black water swamp giving the cattle a place to cool off in the heat.
  • Since Anna’s generation, the swamp has served as a safe haven for wood storks.
  • Woody was one of a handful of contributors who supported Winn Dixie’s early beef program. "The Beef People"

Woody’s simple but profound stewardship, "Let the land guide the cattle" echoes through every choice Matt and Anna make today. It reminds us that true regeneration starts with respect for nature’s rhythms. Thank you for being a part of that story.
